COMMERICAL PROJECTS MANAGER

Zambia Airports Corporation Limited is a reputable Aviation Organization with a vision to provide World Class and diversified Airport and Air navigation business at the four designated international airports in Zambia namely, Kenneth Kaunda in Lusaka, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe in Ndola, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula in Livingstone and Mfuwe and Ten (10) provincial and strategic aerodromes. The job holder is responsible for managing and monitoring all commercial projects to completion, in line with the relevant legislation, policies, strategies, processes, procedures and required standards, and in alignment with the overall ZACL strategy

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide input into the development of the Commercial Services strategies and operational model
  • Manage the formulation and execution of commercial projects unit’s operational plan and objectives in line with the ZACL’s overall operational plan
  • Develop and review policies, processes, practices, procedures and systems related to commercial projects and provide guidance, expertise and advice to other ZACL functional areas
  • Support the achievement of the strategic objectives of the Commercial Services Department
  • Manage and monitor third party commercial investments expenditure to ensure that they are within budgeted parameters and meeting cost optimization.
  • Leading all commercial projects within the airport precincts, including land use development initiatives to completion.
  • Overseeing the full “rumour to cash” process, ensuring effective conversion of ideas into profitable ventures.
  • Ensure all ZACL Land pieces are beaconed correctly in line with approved land use plan
  • Coordinating the approval processes required for the execution of land use projects.
  • Leading commercial project management efforts to ensure efficient execution and alignment with corporate goals.
  • Providing strategic support to all Commercial Managers to help them achieve their targets.
  • Driving the implementation of commercial projects to operational status, with the goal of generating revenue and contributing to the corporation’s top line.
  • Managing vendor relationships, including agreement on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Identifying potential commercial risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Provide input into Airport Master Planning for existing and future infrastructure
  • Manage, coordinate and drive the provision of commercial project services:
  • Liaise with developers and other professionals, such as surveyors and architects
  • Assist in preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for interiors of aviation facilities
  • Compile data to guide and support space leasing and occupation processes by
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to maximize non-aeronautical revenue
  • Coordinate commercial project proposals, bidding processes and approval processes
  • Maintain relations with both internal and external stakeholders i.e. airlines, investors, local councils, CAA, ZEMA, MTL.
  • Prepare and submit reports on commercial projects to relevant stakeholders and committees
  • Maintain and safeguard all relevant commercial projects records
  • Monitor the unit’s compliance with legal, internal and external auditors, procurement and financial policies in conducting the activities of the department
  • Identify opportunities for improvement on an ongoing basis
  • Manage the planning and implementation of new or revised processes, ensuring all affected stakeholders are informed and that safety considerations are fully integrated and communicated throughout the change
  • Provide advice and guidance to business units on commercial project processes and issues, ensuring safety is a key consideration in all recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 ‘O’ Level Certificate with minimum of a credit in Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil, Built, etc, Quantity Surveyor,Country and city planning, project management, or any closely relevant field.
  • Master’s degree in Project Management will be an added advantage.
  • 5 years of work experience in managing projects in a relevant field with at least 2 years supervisory experience. Strong working knowledge of current construction cost estimating methods.
  • Experience in design, inspection, and construction
  • Experience in providing contract negotiation support.
  • Experience working with a variety of internal/external stakeholders.
