COMMUNICATIONS NAVIGATION & SURVEILLANCE (CNS) ENGINEER -SMKIA
The job holder is responsible for quality installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance of telecommunication, navigation aids, surveillance, and ancillary equipment for Zambia Airports Corporation Limited to ICAO/ZCARs Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) to ensure the greatest Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of equipment.
Key Performance Areas
- Receives instructions in respect of installation and commissioning work; critically assess work and materials required.
- Carries out shift work and makes pre- shift checks on the equipment logbook and daily status report to establish the status of facilities in order to plan work schedule for the shift.
- Carries out planned and scheduled preventative maintenance work in order to ensure thatequipment performs within standards.
- Executes repair works with the highest quality and the lowest down time.
- Test runs all existing and newly installed facilities to enable determination of efficiency and ensurestrict adherence to ZCARs and Equipment manuals.
- Gives technical suggestions and solutions.
- Continuously monitors equipment performance to ensure efficient operation
- Takes part in flight check preparations
- Sets performance targets and conducts performance evaluation of subordinates
- Prepares all repair and maintenance reports of work carried out.
- Maintains accurate technical logs, maintenance records and incident reports.
- Prepares technical reports and recommends improvements or upgrades.
- Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate with at least 5 ‘O’ level credits with English, Mathematics, Physics / Physical Sciences.
- Degree in Electronics, Telecommunication, Avionics Engineering or Equivalent or Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications Avionics Engineering with minimum 2 years’ experience.
- Certification from an ICAO recognized institution in any or all the following:DME, VOR and ILS as added advantage.
- Certification from an ICAO recognized institution on Surveillance (RADAR, ADS-B / Mlat) as added advantage.
- IT Certification. e.g., CISCO or Microsoft Certified Network Engineer as added advantage.
- Rigging Skills
- Class-B Drivers Licence
- A Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
