DIRECTOR CORPORATE PLANNING AND STRATEGY
The Director Corporate Planning and Strategy is responsible for directing and supervising the operations and execution of Corporate Planning and Strategy Department. To directly supervise the planning, formulation, implementation and review of the Corporate Strategic Planning processes and monitor and evaluate business performance, and assess and adjust the Corporation’s direction in response to changes in the operating environment. The Department also ensures, the strengthening of core processes and that there is a Business Continuity Management System based on strategic risk assessment.
Key Performance Areas
- To undertake corporate research to guide the Strategic Planning themes
- To facilitate in formulating and developing corporate goals, the strategic plans, corporate policies and annual work plans and budgets to ensure that the Corporation mission is achieved.
- To spearhead the alignment of corporate strategic plans based on balanced scorecard to the annual departmental plans.
- To undertake annual reviews of the strategic plan to accommodate changing business needs.
- To undertake mid-term reviews and evaluations of the strategic plans at the end of each strategic plans implementation period
- Promote a data driven decision making corporate culture through implementation of tools for the measurement of key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic objectives and development of productivity standard reports using business intelligence solutions in respective departments.
- To facilitate the financial and economic evaluation of projects/products/services for viability and prioritization purpose.
- To facilitate the development, negotiation, implementation and reporting of performance contracting activities of the corporation.
- To undertake investment planning for the corporation including conducting feasibility studies for all investments.
- To supervise the undertaking of systems and process audits in order to identify risks and bottlenecks in the operations of the corporation.
- To implement business process Re-engineering (BPR) activities in order to improve efficiencies and services delivery.
- To champion change management activities to promote adoption of reforms.
- Ensure departments formulate and review corporate policy documents in line with strategic plan.
- To facilitate the formulation, design and implementation of an accurate and thorough Business Continuity Management (BCM), business assessments and impact analysis for the respective departments.
- To implement the BCM framework into enterprise-wide contingency and business continuity operations of the corporation.
- To facilitate the undertaking of risk identification, assessment and management.
- Direct and facilitate operational planning processes within ZACL and ensure alignment of all business plans with the organisation’s strategic plan, vision and mission.
- Define the business concept and long-term vision and create a conceptual framework of the organization's strategic vision with long-term applicability.
- Facilitating strategic decision making processes based on ZACL priorities, opportunities, challenges, and capacity requirements
- Monitor business strategy development and implementation processes, as well as the submission of mandatory and regulatory performance reports.
- Direct and coordinate the execution of airport master planning processes that guides future airport growth and development that will efficiently meet existing and future aviation demand in a safe and cost-effective manner
- Provide advice on effectiveness of operational plans and evaluate organisational performance based on the implementation of the strategy
- Oversee the implementation of organisational-wide project that support the vision and short- and long-term plans
- Define ZACL research agenda, direct knowledge sharing processes and facilitate collaboration within internal teams
- Direct and monitor the provisioning of market research, business intelligence and data analysis services to inform business strategy, policies, reporting and decision making processes.
- To implement monitoring, evaluation and reporting mechanism of the strategic plan and other demand initiatives to ensure effective implementation and attainment of the set strategic objectives.
- To review Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports.
- Compile ad boc reports to all stakeholders.
- Report on performance to Exco and the Board against strategic and operational plans.
- Direct and monitor the execution of continuous improvement plans to ensure optimization of operations, and processes, innovation and business continuity.
- Manage, mentor and empower employees and change within the Corporate Planning and Strategy Department to promote high performance, optimal working environment and cost effective operations
- Guide and influence Corporate Planning and Strategy Department employees in embedding the values and desired culture of in line with ZACL’s
- Drive a high-performance culture by taking accountability for an effective and well-articulated performance management process
- Ensure that Corporate Planning and Strategy Department has an effective career management programme and adequate capacity (in terms of numbers, skills and competencies) to fulfil its mandate.
- Foster organisational culture and climate that is customer-oriented and value driven aligned to ZACL’s shared values.
- Ensure cost optimisation within the Corporate Planning and Strategy Department by demonstrating a financial sustainability culture that supports ZACL’s overall financial strategy.
- Accountable for financial decisions and ensuring value for money outcomes for the Corporate Planning and Strategy Department.
- To supervise the drafting and monitoring of the Department budget.
- To supervise and ensure that cascading of goals from the Board to individual level remains in line with the strategic plan.
Qualification
- Grade 12 with 5 O’ level credits or better including English, Mathematics and Science
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
Experience
- At least 8 years of work experience of which 5 years should be in a managerial capacity.
